Contrast Sensitivity Functionality (CSF) is a critical part of vision. Unlike visual acuity measurements, contrast testing provides significant information in relation to a patient’s visual function. Information that may overlooked by simply conducting visual acuity test. Evidence suggests that contrast testing results is an indicator of real world performance; simply measuring 20/20 vision does not mean the patient can see.
M&S Letter Contrast Testing uses standard Snellen Letters presented at contrast levels from 100% to 0.8% contrast. The contrast of the monitors are precisely calibrated to give you consistent, repeatable results from visit to visit. Unlike many systems who claim contrast sensitivity testing, our system gives you the ability to identify the contrast threshold or the lowest contrast level your patients can identify rather than just the smallest letters they can identify at some random contrast level. Letter contrast can also be measured under glare conditions using our glare testing system (GTS™).
With scalable letter sizing at varying contrast levels, the Smart System® letter contrast screening allows for adequate testing of low vision patients. Each system includes several protocol options to choose from or simply create your own through our exclusive Protocol One™.
